Dr. TOM FERGUSON

Award winning author Tom Ferguson, M.D., is President of Self-Care Productions, a health care consulting firm in Austin, Texas. Dr. Ferguson received his M.D. from Yale University School of Medicine. He founded the influential journal Medical Self Care and has served for many years as medical editor of the Whole Earth Catalog. He wrote the chapter "Working with your Doctor" for the book accompanied by Bill Moyer's PBS series "Mind/Body Medicine".

Through research and over 200 interviews with health concerned smokers, Dr. Ferguson developed The No Nag-No-Guilt-Do-it-Your-Own-Way Guide to Quitting Smoking. The guide is dedicated to "health-concerned smokers everywhere who do care about their health and do want to take more control of their smoking, in their own way and in their own time." The approach is designed to expand the smoker's range of options.

Dr. Ferguson received the Lifetime Extension Award for his writings in the area of self-help and self-care. His books include Health Online, Medical Self Care: Access to Health Tools, The No Nag, No Guilt, Do it Your Own Way Guide to Quitting Smoking, and Helping Smokers Get Ready to Quit: A New Approach to the Toughest Problem in Health Promotion.
