Advantages of SPC |
The following
features of the SPC program that make it unique in
comparison with other self-help and rehabilitative
programs:
- It provides for a much more
heightened state of belief and thus a greater
responsiveness to words -- words being the
main means for producing changes in most
forms of psychotherapy and self-improvement
programs.
- There is a greater
emphasis on development of self-dependence,
as opposed to dependence on a therapist for
example.
- There is an emphasis on
the here and now approach, as opposed to
having to go back into childhood to uncover
the causes of current problems.
- It is a more holistic
approach, focusing not just on surface
behavior but on underlying attitudes and
beliefs as well. It also attempts to help the
individual improve in all aspects of his
life.
- It is more positively
oriented, focusing more on a person's
positive capabilities than on shortcomings.
- It is a mental growth as
opposed to just a treatment approach, aiming
at helping all people achieve their full
potential rather than just helping the
mentally sick get back on their feet.
- A rational, logical
explanation of how and why the techniques
work is provided as compared to the
semi-mystical almost metaphysical approach of
many programs.
- Greater immediate
positive feedback is built into the program,
showing the individuals that they can produce
positive results from the start, thereby
motivating them to continue.
- And finally, there is
the fact that SPC
is extremely easy to teach, allowing each
individual to help others in turn, rather
than being a program that only the specially
trained professional can administer.
