Just as with other fitness programs, proper step training equipment ensures the safest, most effective workout. There are many step platforms available. When choosing your step, look for the following features that add versatility and safety to your fitness stepping program:
- Non-slip stepping surface. The top of the platform should have a non-slip grid for traction.
- Non-skid floor pads. The platform should have non-skid floor pads to anchor the product during your workout.
- Sturdy construction. The platform should be made of lightweight yet durable material that can withstand repeated use.
- Adjustability. Even though The Step Fit Test is performed on an eight-inch step, your Fitness Stepping Prescription may require that you begin at the four-inch or six-inch level.
- Incline/decline capability. Though not a necessity, a platform that inclines or declines can double as an exercise bench. This allows you to add floor exercises, such as sit-ups, as you progress.
